Combustion method
Definition: Burn the fabric on an open flame, observe the deformation of its fibers after heating, the flame condition, the difficulty and speed of combustion, the odor and color emitted, the shape of the burned ash and residue, hardness, and other methods for identification.
1. Simple combustion method
Cotton, which ignites immediately upon contact with fire, has a fast speed and a yellow flame, with a slight odor of gray white smoke and burning paper. The burnt ash is soft and dark gray.
Hemp fiber: Similar to cotton, but the ash is grayish white.
Wool, non flame retardant, shrinks first when encountered, and the fibers bubble after combustion. The flame is orange in color, with a taste of protein burning. It burns faster than cotton and has more ashes, forming an unformed black brown shape. It can be easily crushed by hand and becomes a loose powder.
Silk: The burning shape is similar to that of wool fibers, first rolled into a ball, and the burning speed is faster than that of wool. It has a taste of protein, but the odor is smaller than that of wool. After burning, it appears as a brown ball like substance.
Viscose fiber: Similar to cotton, it burns faster than cotton, with a yellow flame and a paper burning odor. The ash appears gray or light gray.
Taylon: Drops of molten material during combustion, resulting in a blue flame. There is black smoke at the top, slightly reminiscent of a fragrant odor, and the ashes are hard lumps that can be easily crushed with just one press of the fingers.
Nylon: It is not easy to burn and curls up when exposed to fire. The molten material is in the form of a transparent gel, which can be pulled out while hot and has a celery flavor. Ashes are not fragile.
2. Combustion coloring method
The fiber type is similar to that of a flame. When leaving the flame, the combustion odor residue forms in a wet state for color rendering
Tencel fiber does not melt, does not shrink, and burns rapidly. It continues to burn, with a paper smell of gray, black, and blue
Modal fiber does not melt, does not shrink, and burns rapidly. It continues to burn, with a paper smell of gray, black, gray, blue, and gray
Soybean protein fiber shrinks, burns, and does not melt, with black smoke that is not easy to delay burning, and has a crisp black gray brown flavor
Bamboo fiber does not melt, does not shrink, and burns rapidly. It continues to burn, with a paper smell of gray, black, gray, blue, and gray
Chitin fiber does not melt, does not shrink, and burns rapidly. It continues to burn, with a paper smell of grayish black and a grayish black color
